Serving the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove and Santee, East County CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as:
- Fire Safety
- Radio Communications
- Light Search & Rescue
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective
- Hands-Only CPR
Using training learned in the classroom and during hands on exercises, CERT volunteers work in teams as part of the overall coordinated response, in order to assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders may not be immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness and public education events.
Our Basic Training Academy has concluded for this year. We'll begin taking applications next Decmeber for our Spring 2025 Academy. In the meantime, please contact us for more information about our training, or with any questions you may have regarding CERT.
