Serving the cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove and Santee, East County CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact our area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as:
- Fire Safety
- Radio Communications
- Light Search & Rescue
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective
Using training learned in the classroom and during hands on exercises, CERT volunteers work in teams as part of the overall coordinated response, in order to assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders may not be immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects.
Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, our Basic Training Academy for 2020 has been canceled
The next Basic Training Academy will be scheduled for the Spring of 2021. We are currently researching alternatives to in person training. Please watch this space for more information later this year.
